Coby Kyros 7-Inch Touchscreen Tablet [Android 2.1, 4GB Storage, $300]

The Coby Kyros 7-inch resistive touchscreen tablet is out and available on the Home Shopping Network, yet another mid-range tablet courtesy Android. The tablet is powered by an ARM 1176, 800MHz CPU. That’s not eye-catching as far as processor power is concerned. 4GB internal memory is expandable to 32GB via microSD card.

The device comes pre-installed with the E-book reader application. Portrait and landscape orientation via automatic orientation detection (accelerometer). The device can connect to the AppsLib applications marketplace from where you can augment the pre-loaded apps on Kyros. For all that it is offering, the Kyros is perhaps a little steeply priced at $300 and we could well see a price reduction in the future. After all, there are the Archos tablets and a clutch of Chinese make tablets at around the same price point but with stronger processing power and a better feature set.
