OCZ Announces the Octane SATA 3.0 and SATA 2.0 SSD series [2.5-inch, Up to 1TB Storage]
OCZ has announced the Octane SATA 3.0 and SATA 2.0 SSD series that use Indilinx Everest technology. These are the first solid state drives that have touched 1TB storage in the 2.5-inch form factor.
These drives use proprietary controller technology developed by OCZ that enables high performance levels with compressed as well as uncompressed files. The devices feature high NAND flash endurance. Critical data is kept secure using AES and automatic encryption features. The Indilinx Everest platform enables 560MB/s of bandwidth and 45,000 IOPS. The Octane SATA 3.0 and SATA 2.0 SSDs use page mapping algorithms ensure optimum working in real-world scenarios where the devices may be used with different applications for various file types. The read/write access times are 0.06ms and 0.09ms, respectively. The Octane series will be available from the 1st of November in storage sizes ranging from 128GB to 1TB.
